Eddy Current Separator
Product Description
The eddy current separator recovers non-ferrous conductive metals such as aluminium, copper and brass from waste and recycling streams. Ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals and non-conductive materials such as glass, stone, plastic and wood can be split into separate fractions.
A high-strength rotor is available for fine separations and a standard rotor for less mixed material.
How It Works
The separator works on the principle that a current is induced in a conductor exposed to a changing magnetic field (Faraday's law). The magnetic rotor at the head of the belt spins at high speed, creating a high-frequency alternating field at its surface. When a non-ferrous metal particle enters this field, eddy currents are induced in it and the resulting repulsive force throws it out of the material stream. Non-conductive material falls on its normal trajectory.
