Magnetic Head Pulley
Product Description
The magnetic head pulley replaces the head pulley of a conveyor and separates tramp iron from the material at the discharge point. The magnetic field covers the full 360 degrees of the pulley, so the material is always within the field.
It is built with permanent magnets (ferrite or rare earth NdFeB) or as an electromagnet. Ferrite designs give a deeper field for large pieces of iron, while rare earth designs give a more intense field for small ferrous particles. Diameter and width are set by the conveyor, and it is also widely used as a second-stage separator.
How It Works
When material reaches the conveyor discharge, ferrous pieces are attracted to and held on the belt by the pulley. As the belt turns under the pulley, the pieces leave the field and drop at a separate collection point. An adjustable non-magnetic splitter plate can be fitted under the pulley for a clean split.
