Rod Mill
Product Description
The rod mill grinds ores and minerals with steel rods inside a rotating drum. Thanks to the large contact surface of the rods, it achieves the same result at lower speed and with less steel than a ball mill, making it more efficient in many applications.
It is generally used to produce material below 2 mm, mostly in wet grinding, giving a controlled product size with few fines.
How It Works
As the drum rotates, the rods tumble parallel to each other. Ore caught between them is crushed and ground by attrition. Because coarse particles are broken first, the rods act like a screen and give a product with a narrow size distribution.
Applications
Ore preparation and grinding
Sand production
Industrial mineral processes
Coarse grinding ahead of ball mills

Controlled product size, few fines
Efficient operation at low speed
Lower steel consumption
